Finding the Right Lawyer

How to find the right lawyer

There are many sources over the net that help you to find a lawyer. The process of finding a lawyer can be an uphill task and selecting the right one from a list of many, may become even more difficult and confusing. To help you make a choice we have listed some of the factors that should influence your decision:-

  1. Area of practice - Law has become a somewhat complex and specialized field. Just because someone is a lawyer doesn't necessarily mean that they can help you with your case. You must try to find a lawyer that work in the area of law that pertains to your case.

  2. Location - Location is another important factor while selecting the right lawyer. Remember that your case, no mater how small would require several visits and direct discussions. If your lawyer is remotely located, the entire process could become a bit cumbersome.

  3. Experience - Depending on the nature of your legal situation, the experience level of the lawyer may be an important factor to consider.

  4. Fees and costs - How much a lawyer charges is generally related with their experience and level of success achieved. Even if your situation requires an experienced lawyer, it may not be within your budget. Click here for more information on understanding fees and costs.

  5. Previous History / Reputation - You should find out if your prospective lawyer has had any ethical complaints or disciplinary sanctions from the Law Society.
