Being arrested for drunk driving is a situation that shouldn't be taken lightly. If you've been charged for a DUI, make sure you don't make these mistakes:

1. Fail To Request A DMV Administrative Hearing. In California you have only 10 days to schedule a DMV hearing.

2. Making assumptions such as thinking that if the breath result is greater than .080, your case is lost. There's a chance that the breathalyzer device the officer used may have a malfunction.

3. Not writing down the details of your arrest. If you can remember what happened prior to and during your arrest, this information will help your lawyer.

4. Not gathering your witnesses.

5. Hiring a DUI lawyer based on the amount of the fee alone.

6. Failing to call an exclusively DUI lawyer. You want a lawyer who has knowledge and experience with DUI laws and procedures.

7. Failing to appear in court.

8. Failure to become educated and understand the dangers of a DUI.

9. Failure to properly evaluate the fourth amendment implications on a case.
